in the area looking for off campus housing around the U?

My 18 y/o son wrapped up his first semester of school and it didn't go well and he doesn't plan to continue with college (for at least a year, maybe ever we'll see).

He plans to live in SLC and work and we're helping him research options of furnished places to stay near campus that will still have the young/social scene.

Anyone navigated this and have tips of places to look? He'd likely be there through April and then may do summer sales or something else out of state then back to SLC for Fall/Winter.
