Some of you just wish for your childhood.
The real problem these leagues face (and revenue has never been higher) is twofold.
1. Cord Cutting - In the world of digital apps it is difficult to pay for and find all of the apps your team plays on. This is on purpose and why entities pay so much for sporting events.
2. Sports is losing its market share to video games. Listen, video games have been around for like 50 years, but they have never been so easily accessible and so dynamic. You no longer play a game and beat it after 10-20 hours. Instead you go into a world that can occupy you for hours, days, weeks etc. You can also play right from your phone.
Now don't get me wrong, sports is far from dead. But with higher ticket prices, so many apps that make it hard to find games, and teams that change more than ever it will affect viewership negatively.
