You jump to extreme conclusions.
A- Teams have to cut scholarship spots this year it’s a different world this year than in years past.
B- If Rival school has more transfers coming in so far don’t freak out. Do the math. They have also had a lot more impact players leave and just came off a 5-7 no bowl game season!
C- We just had a 10 win season and the majority almost all of the players that have entered the portal have been informed it would be a good idea to do so for various reasons. Roster has to be trimmed at every position. Have to make room for incoming players. You can’t carry 7-8 QB’s anymore.
D- Maybe there are players coming in locked up but waiting to announce? Not maybe there are for various reasons announcements coming.
E- Not everyone you offer you get or has a mutual interest. Not every player you think BYU has offered they actually offered for the right reasons.
F- What if you extend an offer and take someone right away and lose out on an opportunity on someone that enters the portal after their bowl game? There will be more that enter over next couple weeks from bowl teams to roster trims. Again reality is you only have so many spots next year you can fill. It’s not like previous years you could add as many as you lose.
G- Not all positions have the same amount of immediate impact players. DLineman for one
H- Our coaches over the past few years have brought in some portal transfers that have made a difference. Etienne, Retzlaff, Lassiter, Kelly, Collins, Robinson, Heckard, Marion, Lapauho, Bagnah, Ferrin etc. They know what they are doing. There’s a lot of moving parts behind the scene. Have faith they understand what’s at stake and what they are doing.
I- Developing your own talent and unity is important to success. Bringing in a lot of transfers does not always translate with success. Everyone was so high on UCF last year all the big time portal talent they brought in. How did that play out?
