I mean, it could also have turned out to be an outdoorsy paradise, like Vail or
Tahoe or Jackson Hole. Skiing would certainly still be a thing. Moab and the national parks in southern Utah would probably still be a thing.
Seems more likely to me that it would end up as a string of dusty, meth-house towns. But you never know, (and the resort possibility is real) so that's why I used "probably."
