Yeah, I think out of HS, he was recruited as an Edge on the DL, but as talented
as he was touted to be, it seems that he became a tweener b/t DL and LB, not bulked up enough to play DE, with guys like Batty /Bagnah / Lutui in front of him, and timing-wise, ended up behind some really talented upper-classmen Xfers at LB before he could make the complete switch from DL to LB. Now, he can see the writing on the wall - that the BYU coaches would not (and clearly should not) bench Kelly, Taggatt, Glasker, Esera, et al to give him PT until the other LB's move on.
Then, there are the really big LB recruits from last year, Asiata, and Tuakoi, Akuila, that may be arriving on campus to seriously compete for PT at LB. Frankly, if they do show up, BYU is absolutely stacked at LB and Safety going forward.
Still, wish he could have stayed and play at DE. Very sad to see him go. I bet he'll do amazing at either position wherever he ends up.
