As a BYU fan, I hope we can learn from Nebraska. They fired a coach, Frank Solich, for going 9-3. We need to give coaches a break, especially when they have limitation.
I did my PhD at Nebraska, they are my second favorite team. I was there from 1995-1998. They won 3 Natties and lost a total of two games during those 4 years. The second loss, a close loss to Texas in the BigXII Championship, cost them a chance to play for a 4th national Championship.
They should have never fired Solich for a 9-3 season. I get being a fan, but we need to have reasonable expectations. And yes, I’m disappointed that BYU went 1-2 after going 9-0. My expectations for the season were met, but after going 9-0, we shouldn’t have gone 1-2.
What could have and should have been this year 😢.
