This is the kind of defense you see in closeout drills at camps/practice, but rarely see in a live game.
Not sure I've ever seen feet that active outside of a drill.

My guess is it stems from a conversation about wanting him on the court, but needing to trust his defensive effort.

Short steps and didn't overcommit. Overcommits kill young players defensively.
