permanently on Dec 31, 2023, and the organization moved to Texas. All of the display pieces were returned to their owners so it doesn't look like they'll be re-opening a new version in Texas.
This was my kids favorite museum growing up, we'd buy an annual family membership every year, and then use the ASTC passport program to get into similar science, technology, or natural history museums across the country for free.
A couple times a year we'd take trips down there just for this museum. Sometimes we'd see some of the other attractions, including the Tucson Reid Park Zoo, the Pima Air & Space Museum, The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and zoo, the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, or Saguaro National Park.
But the International Wildlife Museum was the best, kids would love spending hours there checking out the dioramas, the hunting/taxidermy displays, seeing the live animal encounters they'd bring out, and just enjoying all of the animal exhibits. We were all very sad when the news broke it was shutting down.
Now this cool castle in the desert just sits vacant.
