I've bought multiple guitars from there and they do a good job in helping you find what you want in size, style and cost.  If you think that your son is going to use this guitar for a long time and you want to get something beyond just a basic starter guitar, let him pick it out.  Guitars feel different and sound different and what one person likes, another does not. If you love playing the guitar, a guitar is a very personal gift and having the chance to pick it out on your own is very meaningful.
