When Wilson started against AZ...he was red hot. Maybe 7-8 completions in a row to start.
When Wilson was struggling in the 2nd half, Ludwig kept dropping back...even with Bernard running well. Ludwig would argue they were daring Wilson to throw, and he knew he was capable, but Wilson regressed. He went like 7 straight incompletions. Yet Lud kept dropping him back despite the strong run game.
It was so naive because it didn't take time off the clock, 3s and outs, put the ball back in Fifita's hands. Utah kept giving Fifita chances to get dialed in.
When Utah finally had some momentum and Wilson got back on track, Lud called some awkward audible with Charlie Vincent taking a snap. Didn't need a trick play. Not with a player who only takes 2-3 snaps a game.
Vincent fumbled the snap.
Weird play call. Risky. There were so many other options, Poor execution. Why?
Stumped momentum. Forced Utah to be one dimensional from there on out...and Wilson was off again.
Ludwig read the room wrong...but ultimately he was trying to cover for poor QB play...and innovate against a defense playing to stop the run.
