SOS. We had to be perfect and tirelessly argue against people making the good point that wins against a better record meant more. BYU fixed that problem for themselves by joining a better conference. BSU did not fix this problem.
It's like with illegal immigration. You might think legal immigrants would be sympathetic to undocumented immigrants, given that they both immigrated, but that's wrong. People who paid a huge cost to play by the rules resent it when others get the same result with no cost. We spent a long time wishing for and pursuing a better conference. We finally got it. Obviously we are not sympathetic to a team that tries to get the same national relevance that we want who hasn't put in the effort to play against a schedule as good as the one we play.
I still have residual love for BSU because I recognize they are similar to what we were. I think it's frustrating to play a whole season and to remain in the dark as to whether you are closer to a top 5 team or a top 50 team, either of which BSU could be. This ambiguity is part of why they clearly deserve a shot and why their shot was never in doubt (given that they are the best G5 champ and were always favored for an autobid of some kind).
I still think that if you have been trying to make a case for yourself with a better SOS, you should not like when a team that is undefeated against a weak schedule gets to be above you.
