We go to 24 teams

We drop conference championships

The top two teams from the P4 are autobids

The top one team from the other 6 conferences are autobids (determined by however each conference wants to determine it)

Notre Dame qualifies if they are top 24 in final rankings

All teams are ranked and the rest of the field (9 or 10 teams) is filled in

There is no conference preference for ranking

Top 8 team get a bye and will host their first game in the second round

Bottom 16 teams play in the first round, 9 hosts 24, 10 hosts 23, etc.

When 8 teams are left then they play at bowl sites and finish like the current playoffs.
