I think one twist: batting order stays the same, batter gets a golden corked bat
so give a literal power-up to one player without adjusting the rules.
The opposing team gets a "golden ball" where the pitcher can use basically anything they want on the ball to scuff it or add stick to it.

Batting in order is sacrosanct. Don't limit the stupidity of this idea to simply being a powerup.

I wouldn’t mind an experimental league either.

Or let them use a metal bat one time per game.

If they protected the pitcher with a batting-practice style fence that'd be cool
