Its simple...The committee and the playoff is a pretense. The old comitee was as well, but they could virtue signal because when it came to a 4 team playoff they could stilll stack everything up for the blue bloods and especially the SEC. In the old system they could overrate a G5 or even an Indy BYU because the money still went to where it needed to go, The Blue Blood programs.
The committee and the playoff system is not intended to put together an actual playoff like the NCAA tournament, It is simply to reward the blue blood programs in the SEC and the B1G with the most money.
They are overrating Boise because they can, but when it comes to the money they are freezing out the ACC and the Big 12. Its a joke.
How is ASU ranked so low? I can't stand that school, but they should be at about 10 or 11.
What is sad is that the SEC and the B1G have no interest in preserving the integrity of the game or making it a real competition that lets more teams in.
And these large conferences are making things worse. We lost out on the CCG because of an arbitrary tiebreaker versus a team we did not play. And had we been the one to go, the same argument could have been made by ISU. The fact that these conferences are so big and are not divided up by divisions so at least you play most of the teams in your division makes for a convoluted mess when it comes to the CCG.
But what bothers me is that the committee doesn't punish a conference for only requiring 8 conference games. Well they don't punish the SEC for their patsy schedule in November.
But sadly the SEC and the B1G only want to keep things as they are, with the most money going to those two conferences. And what they don't udnerstand is that they are going to kill college football. What make's CFB great is that every state and region have fans of their local schools. I have never given a rip about any teams outside of the region I live in, Sure I watch some of those other games, becasue I want to see, through the eye test, if BYU stacks up to those teams. But if each year it comes down to most teams in the playoff being in two conferences, why should I care.
The new system is as big a joke as the old one.
