Lots of bitterness and gnashing of teeth right now from BYU fans surrounding the playoffs. Hey, I wish we were in too. I get it.

But another way to look at it is the playoff has been expanded to include the top 8 teams at least. And arguably the top 10 teams. I think it is very difficult for anybody to argue that any of the very top eight teams in the country or even any of top 10 teams in the country will be left out of the playoffs. There could be some argument about the bottom two or three teams that make it in or are left out. But the fact is the playoff has been expanded markedly and is much improved over past years. That is a big deal. It's okay to mourn your team's exclusion a little. But also celebrate the bigger picture that there is much more inclusion than ever before.
