That's 1 spot lower than the CFP rankings for Miami and 3 spots higher than the CFP rankings for BYU. Point is, Miami doesn't really have much of a right to be upset because the committee has been more than fair with their ranking. BYU is under ranked for sure, but even if they were ranked "fairly" they are still likely on the outside of the playoffs looking in, so what does it really matter? If the CFP rankings matched the Massey composite, the "first 4 teams out" would be:
Ole Miss
South Carolina
Miami
BYU
In the actual CFP rankings, the first 4 out are:
Miami
Ole Miss
South Carolina
BYU**
**Clemson is ahead of BYU but I would argue they are in if they win, but could drop a spot or two below BYU if they lose their CCG.
So while the order of the rankings may vary slightly, who is "in" and who is "out" is fairly consistent across the board.
