I don't like the idea of them, but if Amazon package theft continues to grow, I can see more people overcoming their reticence.

If I had to live somewhere with one, I wouldn't want it connected to a gate with controlled access or anything, I'd rather just have it passively record plates as they enter. And have a bunch of rules about who can access the data and for what reasons.

Again, not a fan of the idea, but I wonder at what point I'd overcome my distaste.
