Nicholas Pileggi was married to Nora Ephron while he was interviewing Henry Hill for his book Wise Guys that Goodfellas was based on.

Nora was interested in Henry Hills experience in the witness protection program and interviewed Henry Hill and used his experience to write the comedy My Blue Heaven with Steve Martin.

My Blue Heaven came out a month before Goodfellas and is kind of a fun movie to view as a silly sequel to Goodfellas.
