I see him making a really big jump between this year and next year. Our expectations became loftier when the team was 9-0 and we could have and should have beaten both Kansas and Arizona State, but Jake made some mistakes, the offense took a step back, etc. I think some of those mistakes were bound to happen as he was a full-time starter for an entire season.
I have every reason to believe Jake can get some of the kinks worked out. He has some much good aggression and fight in him. He reminds me of Max Hall, but not quite as talented as Max.
A big thing that will need to be worked out for Jake is how defenses have keyed in on having their defensive linemen come in with hands high. Jake's had a lot of passes batted down the last several games. Probably a combination of his heighth and his throwing motion. I don't if this can be worked out, or if having Jake roll out more will help solve this a little more.
I think Jake will be one of the best QB's in our conference next year, and we should be vying for another opportunity to make the CCG this time next year. Here's hoping we don't see a Kansas-like bust of a season next year where expectations were sky high, but reality came hard.
