to assume that the QB is going to slide. We get to watch these things happen in slow motion but for a defender this is a split second decision while running at full speed.

I actually agree with Rex Ryan. Sliding seems to expose yourself to harm way more than alternatives.

The late hit penalty on sliding QB's needs to be softened a lot so that QB's only get the penalty if they slide
