Coach Whitt should stay because he’s got a great thing going for him. He is the most successful coach in Utah Football history. He is the highest paid employee of the state. He hates the way this year ended and wants to go out on a high note. He has his program and culture well established.

Coach Whitt should retire because he is in for a huge rebuild next year. He wants to spend more time with his family. The stress and grind of this profession is very hard. If he has 1 or 2 more bad seasons it might tarnish his legacy. It’s a great time for Coach Scalley to establish himself by starting his own vision of his team after this season due to the loss of so many players.

If I’m Coach Whitt I hang it up and do whatever the heck I want. I don’t owe anyone anything. I gave my all to Utah and had a ton of success. If anyone asks why my last season sucked I can say literally my whole team got injured that season.
