I think that was their worry.
They could have called time out and gotten the field goal team lined up and ready to run out there.
Instead, they hoped to squeeze in the play and use the time out to calmly get the field goal team out there.
They chose that second option which depended on the ball getting snapped quicker.
Or maybe you're right and they didn't look at it that way. I don't know
