There is too much emphasis on w-l records. Let’s say a team plays 12 games. 10

Of those games are against teams in the top 15. Half home half road. They lose all 10 games by 1 point each game. So their record is 2-10. The record says they are a horrible team. Are they horrible?

Kansas is not a bad team. Yet everyone just looks at their record and says they are bad.
