Sports nation is filling their program with the what if scenarios. My wife often tells me that I’m not great with what if scenarios. I believe in a do or don’t philosophy and don’t like to think of what ifs.
Am I happy they are 9-2? Yeah. But it’s just a bummer that the season has lost so much steam with only 2 losses and the cougars are now dependent on the what ifs scenarios. BYU had chances to win those last 2 games and didn’t.
Unfortunately, they don’t have the brand to have 2 losses and still keep us in the hunt. They are not Notre Dame or B10/SEC who get the benefit of their history and conferences.
What I don’t get is Miami and some of these other teams who have played nobody and still are in the playoff conversation. The only thing I can think of is that these teams have more $$$ and get more views (outside of Boise). Miami has a high profile qb which helps their case, BYU does not have that flashy player. When Colorado was on a roll they quickly went up in the rankings in my opinion bc they have Deion and 2 electric players on their team. The cfp/rankings are ridiculous and are built around $$$ and viewership. So much for fixing college football.
On a happier note, how great is it to be playing in a conference now where each game matters again.
