I don't think he's a Ute homer. I think he tries to be objective on air - much more objective than the majority of radio guys on 1280, to be honest - and I think that it isn't uncommon for him to swing a little to much towards favoring the U at times to not appear to be a BYU homer. Which makes it seem disingenuous when he acts like that's what's expected of him, but others aren't following the same standard. Especially because he played at BYU - I think the expectations for objectivity should be a little tempered.
I also think he is genuinely friends with people on Utah's staff - as is Kalani. So they treat Utah a little more kindly than they would without those relationships (OK - in total honesty, I think Kalani is just a good dude who treats everyone that way).
