Much debate the last day about the use of foul language. My thoughts. Most people have been taught from a young age that certain words are not good to use. I myself had my mouth washed out with soap for using bad words. I worked in an occupation that horrible language was the norm. I never understood why. The use of bad words in most cases does not enhance or describe what is being said. They are usually just added adjective or adverbs which are not descriptive to what is being said. Some have said this is a sign of uneducated language. I will use a sentence hear to show this and include a word that is so often used in society today that is meaningless in its usage.
1- I ran down the hill.
2- I ran crazily down the hill.
3- I ran like down the hill.
4- I ran (insert cuss word) down the hill.
1 is a statement of what I did.
2 describes that I ran down the hill in what might be an unsafe way.
3 the word "like" adds nothing to the statement. it is a waste of the word and used way too much. just listen to most any conversation today nearly every sentence has it.
4 is very similar to 3 in that the cuss word adds nothing, it is used quite often for shock value, and as much as those words are used in society today, they have lost the shock.
So why waste your breath and energy using non-needed words, at the same time offending many?
