I wondered that but the builder focuses on a specific clientele who is also the
same type of clients that I work with. He had said he wanted to do all he could to do this project because he feels like we would be a great referral source for him. He knows I'm in a position to recommend him over and over, as a matter of fact just yesterday I had a client with a full new build, easily a million dollar construction project, ask me what I know about 2 builders, including this guy. I replied honestly and said my experience has been that they are exceptionally slow to communicate and were way higher than other contractors we'd met with. (I wasnt at all vindictive, just honest)

I would not be offended at all if he would have said the job isn't in his wheelhouse, too small, etc. Cool, no big deal. What I'm bothered by is that he went out of his way to say how much he wants the job because we're in the same space, I could recommend him, I've got more than 10 clients who have already used him for projects, he really wanted to work together. (and then didnt send me his quote for 3 weeks after promising it in less than 1 week)

Just weird.
