I've been warring with Spectrum lately
I use them for my internet service (cable) only and they've been mostly just benign. My service works, sometimes it's slow, other times its fine, but it's never as high as the speed they are charging me for (600 Mbps). About every other year, the speed degrades enough that I call and we have to do this full blown reset or they send me a new modem. Every time my service goes down, I ask for a credit. They say they need to get it up and running and then they'll discuss a credit. Of course, it will get back running again and I'll forget about it and not ask for the credit, just happy to have it working and sick of dealing with them. The last time they sent a service tech, he wined about how everyone was dropping their TV & phone service and the business loss was impacting their internet service....blah blah blah...be better, charge less.
My other beef is they jack up rates without warning but their service never improves. I know all businesses do this, their costs changes always seem to be much higher than the other services that regularly raise their rates.
Nowadays, they regularly send customer survey. Those are excellent opportunities to rant to them about their horrible service. I wonder if anybody reads those.
So, why do I stay? Well, I am in what is considered a rural area and the services are really limited. There are some satellite options and a lesser ATT option but they all are appreciably slower and will like result in worse speed.
Thankfully we finally got fiber in our neighborhood. I was already to go, with a new modem and everything. Speeds with my new provider were to be 2 Gig...yay! Unfortunately, winter showed up and the line didn't get installed. So, I'm stuck with Spectrum for another 6 months
