would at the very least like to see happen is to provide the committee with specific metrics and data to use in their decision making similar to what the NCAA tournament selection committee has for basketball. Creating a ranking similar to what NET is for football could be an option. The basketball committee has their NET ranking along w/ SOS and quadrant records based off those NET rankings, but then also are provided with a couple of "resume ranks" that are averaged together (KPI and SOR) along with 3 different "quality ranks" that are averaged together (KenPom, BPI, and BartTorvik). There will still be debate and disagreement, but at least there would be some sense of defined metrics and criteria that are publicly available that the committee would be making their decisions from.
I would also be fine w/ a BCS-style ranking system to determine the seeds.
