Peanut butter has never worked for me. This works 100 percent of the time:

get a couple little pieces of dog food and super glue it to the trap. Put the trap exactly where you had the one that got licked clean. I promise that mouse will be dead tomorrow morning.

You don't need multiple traps. Just one with super glued bait. Done.
