Probably not burn out, but wouldn't be surprised if there was a mental let down
after the game against Utah. The Holy War is an emotionally draining game at any time, but given what was at stake and the way the game played out, I think the team was probably emotionally drained and when KU came out punching, the team might not have had enough in the tank to really punch back. Now, if we are a legit #6, we should be able to handle that and we didn't handle it well. The fact that we almost pulled it off tells me the team knew what to do and could execute, but didn't just couldn't do it for all 4 quarters. That, and some of the play calling (or audibles) just put us in a difficult position. If KU had lost to ISU and bowl eligibility wasn't on the line, they probably come out with less energy and we win comfortably. Just seems like this game played out like a "trap" game given all that happened to both teams the week before.
