ball was poorly thrown, just like the pick on the same play against Utah the week before. The ball trajectory was too flat and not thrown like a fade where it is thrown up high for the taller TE/WR to be advantaged to make the play, or drop it over the top so the WR/TE can catch it over the shoulder. Either way, either the WR/TE gets the catch, or the ball is overthrown out-of-bounds. It looked a bit like Jake was trying to throw it back shoulder, but even then I think that would be the wrong throw based on how the DB was playing the coverage. I also don't necessarily like throwing fades to TEs. If it is a Johny Harline or Dennis Pita level TE, then it makes great sense. Given the players on the field for that play, I don't like that being the first or main read. If you want the fade, throw it up to the wide side to one of our top WR that are proven playmakers.
