playing (and beating) Washington St. in the Alamo bowl? It would be 12-2 finish with BYU ranked inside the top 15 in the final rankings. Will people feel happy about the season, or have a little bit of a bitter taste in their mouth?
At the beginning of the season, if you told me BYU would end up 12-2 (including a W over Utah) and finish ranked in the top 15 after they get a W in the Alamo bowl I would be ecstatic. But after being 9-0 looking like the frontrunner to win the conference championship and get a 1st round bye in the College Football Playoff where they would be playing in their first major bowl game in program history - it feels like a bit of a consolation prize more than a large achievement. Still, if that were to be how this season ended, it would be one of the more successful seasons in program history, and probably the most successful season in the last 28 years.
