…my wife is from Mexico, we met when she was at the ESL at BYU, where we got married and had our oldest (now on her mission in El Paso). My wife has never liked attending live sports, lets us watch some on TV as a family, but honestly attending wasn’t in our budget until recently. Our daughter was doing BYU Flex pre mission. My kids, in spite of my interest and efforts, have never really gotten into BYU FB. My sons are finally turning the corner a bit due to this special season and growing into sports (mostly VB and BB), and my wife encouraged us to go to the game as an early Christmas gift. Two of our friends from her hometown will be in town so we decided to have them come with.
I sincerely hope, mostly for my sons, that it’s a great experience that grows their fandom. I’m not as connected to the team or sports anymore with work and kids’ responsibilities, but with the B12 and Arizona games (where we’ve lived for the last 12 years), we are hoping to grow some traditions. I want my kids to get to BYU and fully buy-in, but these generations are different with watching TV sports. Maybe something special in person will do the trick.
I hope the team, especially the offense, can bring it and beat ASU soundly. It’d go a long way for us in the sea of the devils.
