not calling a timeout when we had 4th and 6th from the Kansas 11 with less than a minute to go. The outcome of the game depended on that play. We had 2 timeouts remaining. We had just failed on the previous 3 plays to get a first down or to score. We needed to reset, make sure the right play and right personnel were in.
Instead, the team rushes together, and we get a procedure penalty changing 4th and 6 to a 4th and 11 AND running 10 seconds off the clock. And even then we didn't call a timeout to get the right play in.
With less than a minute to go and the ball, there was no reason to save those timeouts. If we failed on that play, it was mathematically impossible to get the ball back.
