Every spring and fall when our academic department has our External Advisory Board meeting, we also have a dinner and Order of the Engineer Ceremony (kindof like the Hippocrates Oath for engineers) for the graduating seniors. We usually have a keynote speech from one of the EAB members (usually alumni) to congratulate the seniors and send them off with some life tips.
This time it was a fairly recent grad (2016) who has risen the ranks at Boeing and then Blue Origin and got an MBA along the way.
When addressing those who were considering further schooling he gave a quote from one of his business school professors who was also an engineer-turned-MBA:
“An MBA is where we teach business undergrads to think like an engineer, and we teach engineers vocabulary”.
