I agree you don’t need to build around them being featured receivers BUT . . .
It makes it way harder on defenses if they are at least a threat. And putting at least two on the field makes it harder for defenses to defend the pass because it is a credible run formation.

For me, the ideal is the 2020 offense. Two monster receivers (Milne and Romney) on the outside with Rex and Wake in tight and Allgeier in the backfield. Total offensive balance and the ability to threaten defenses with a run or pass on almost every play.
