It's definitely workable and he has shown the ability to make great passes, his ability to progress through his reads is really good I think.
He doesn't have a reliable RB behind him. the RB position is by committee and if we are being honest it's very mediocre at best. Flashes of good things here and there, but overall it's really underwhelming.
Retzlaff has a really talented group of WR's to pass too, quite possibly the best WR group BYU has ever had. So that's not the problem. The problem is 100% on ARod and it's not relatively close. I think the WR routes are basically, for a group as talented as it is, you'd think we'd have a bit more creativity here.
Why on earth we would come into this game with an unaggressive ball control slow down offense, when we've had the most success in tempo aggressive play calling, that was about as dumb of a decision one can get. I'm tired of coaches coaching based on being afraid of what the other team is... Unless we are facing Georgia or Texas or Ohio St... Zero excuse for that.
Retzlaff can be an effective QB. He has a bad OC.
