Post-game thoughts (mostly against the haters and losers, as trump would say)
- Tough bounces - the punt and interception resulted in a 10-14 point swing.
- No, we should not fire Arod. We have one of the top scoring offenses in the Big12. It was clear that Kansas' biggest strength was their explosive offense and that a big part of the gameplan was to play ball control to limit their scoring opportunities and keep them out of rhythm. It would have worked brilliantly if we could have finished drives in the end zone.
- Why did the refs not call those 3 blatant holds? Impossible to miss. Makes me wonder to what extent refs allowed the controversy from the last game to be extra cautious in making any call that might give the impression of favoritism. Or maybe they were punishing Batty for flopping on other plays.
- Jake should never throw an endzone fade again. But the man has largely been brilliant in the 2-minute offense. He made a mistake that was a big part of the loss, but he's learning and growing. He's a good QB who has a chance to be great with continued growth over the rest of this season and next season.
- We've had our share of miracles this year. Conversely, Kansas has been the unluckiest team in FBS. It didn't go our way this time and it finally went theirs. Reversion to the mean is a thing.
- Still love this team, and I still believe all of our team goals are in front of us and achievable. And even if we end 10-2 and miss the ccg, this season will have been an important step forward into making this program a real contender in the new world of transfer portal and NIL.
