Usually you try to run out the clock if you don't want the defense on the field
or if you have a lead. All year long, our defense has been outperforming our offense, and in this game we were shutting them down. So how does it make any sense to try and run out the clock when there's a good chance that we won't score a TD or possibly even a FG? The slow as molasses pace was taking the crowd out of it as well as any momentum we could muster. It was putting everyone to sleep. I don't buy the fact that that's what we were doing all year, because most drives we were throwing it down the field, if not not letting the play clock get down below five seconds on every drive. If you're going to run that much time off the clock, then you better be able to score 6 pts.
