It's just like that House Hunters show where they look at 3 different houses and
then sit down and decide which one they are going to buy. In reality, by the time the episode is picked up and started filming, the individuals have already found their house and closed on their house. Then they basically "pretend" to walk through the house they already purchased and go to 2 other random houses and have fake discussions about what they like and don't like about each house and pretend to be making the decision for the cameras (even though the decision had been made much earlier).

Or like "Love it or list it" where they film 2 endings to each episode (one where they "love" their house and stay, and one where they "list" it) because 99% of the people on the show are really only doing it for the discounted renovation (as the show pays for much of the costs as compensation for being on the show). Of course, I've also heard in many cases the renovations are incomplete and only done enough to look good for the cameras and many times there are things in the background left undone that individuals still need to finish up once the cameras pack up and leave.
