The Athletic's lead story this Morning is about Mark Harlan's Meltdown
Starts with this sentence: "Utah athletic director Mark Harlan should know better" And it talks about how as a committee member last year on selecting participants in the College Football Playoffs, that he received death threats for excluding Florida State.

I don't know that there is anything new that has been hashed a thousand times here, but it quotes extensively from Terry McAuly, the NFL official who spent lots of time reviewing the film and engaging with fans about how it was the right call. The thrust of the article is that is more common for Coaches to question officials, but how unprecedented it is for an athletic director to become involved in that. They also pointed out that he didn't apologize with his statement.

It also makes the point of how critical it is that conferences react strongly in these situations to no erode trust in officials (it also says that officials can improve). I have yet to see a national commentator justify Mark Harlan's action and most acknowledge that it was the correct call and worst not a bad call.

The article is behind a paywall, but linking here if you want it.
