I'm beginning to think Harlan said what he said because that's what the university and its culture wants.
But I'm afraid what's worse is that this is being called a "controversial" call. There's no controversy. Some utes are saying it wasn't a hold and most utes are saying it shouldn't have been called. Nobody else in the world agrees with them. So it's not a controversy. BYU did not win "because of a controversial call." BYU won because they're a better team.
utes have their self esteem wrapped up in being better than BYU and can't handle the world absolutely destroying that perception in every way. So they're acting like Rumplestillskins stomping their little feet in a tantrum, from the common fan who throws objects to cause injury to the administration who is loudly silent.
