I think with the right coach they could be really solid.
Purely, because of where they're located they have a built in recruiting advantage (like USC does). No, they don't have the same cool factor that USC carries around, but with the right coaching staff I bet they could be good enough to compete for Big 10 conference championships some years. Th

They didn't leave because the Pac was dying. They killed it by leaving. It all started when USC and UCLA left.
