Forgiveness is an amazing thing. Being on the receiving end of forgiveness is truly a blessing.
Having been on the end of needing to forgive has taught me more though. Being able to forgive my ex-wife has truly been an amazing thing for me. When I let go and forgave her it made a huge difference for me, and has been good for my sons too. I'm hopeful my oldest son can forgive her one day, but hurts that happen when you are young are hard to deal with, and from people you love and who were supposed to protect you makes it harder for him I think. I talk to him a lot about forgiveness. He no longer is so angry, and I'm not sure what forgiveness to his mom will look like for him, but I'm hopeful that one day he can truly forgive her so he is no longer burdened by that hurt.

I hope one day my ex-wife can forgive herself. I know she struggles with that. I have invited her to church so many times — at least she came to the halloween party this year. Hopefully she can learn to forgive and I hope my son can learn to forgive — they are very much alike.
