It is higher than you think, but I suggest finding an insurance broker. They
can shop plans for you. Probably high deductible with and HSA. You get the tax benefits of deducting the contributions to your HSA, but be prepared to essentially have catastrophic insurance and paying for most health expenses out of your HSA.

On the Christian Health Ministries, I don't recommend it. For minor health issues it may be fine, but you have to read the fine print on what they won't cover and then consider if you want to take on that risk. My daughter has type 1 diabetes and it would be a disaster if we were on that.
