Probably already discussed, but it would have been hilarious if Utah had pulled off a miracle on the kick return
but it got called back because of Harlan’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

I think that penalty wouldn't have called back a TD.

How?

The rulebook wording indicates that unsportsmanlike conduct on a non-player is always considered a dead-ball penalty

It would have been enforced on the extra point

Which wouldn't be played since a two point swing couldn't turn the game at that point.

Why did we get the ball back in 2012 then?

Different penalty.

Nov 11, 9:10pm
Different penalty for the same infraction? They could have called it 12 men on

Way to move the goalposts though haha

It matters what the ref says. Unsportsmanlike is a different penalty than

Nonsense. A non player could enter the field and block one off our players and the TD would still count

If it effects play it's a different penalty.

Gif course it would. It would be a re-kick

It was called as unsportsmanlike, not interfering with play.

Why did we get the ball back when they rushed the field in 2012 then?
RGGeemer
Nov 11, 8:51pm
That was called as sideline interference. They got in the way of the ballcarrier
momowagon
Nov 11, 8:53pm
No they didn't. Falslev was clear on the other side of the field.

Another angle

And the call. Live ball foul.
RGGeemer
Nov 11, 9:08pm
Exactly. Not unsportsmanlike which is a dead ball foul. It's a different penalty
momowagon
Nov 11, 9:14pm
Of course not because we would decline it.
RGGeemer
Nov 11, 9:16pm
Sure. But why would it be enforced differently in that situation?
momowagon
Nov 11, 9:26pm
That's what I'm asking you. Same infraction. Shpuld be the same enforcement no?

Oh man, too bad he didn’t run to the far sideline. He would have gotten lost in their fans running on the field

I don't know the answer and I'm not really following the debate, but I do

Even better if one of our players just laid him out. He’s fair game IMO.
