want to say, I had zero respect for Kyle Whittingham before this game and I have negative numbers of respect now for him after his late-game and post-game rants and antics.
When listening to his post-game presser, he called out Kuithe's injury as a dirty play, a cheap shot by a BYU defender. He said twice in his remarks about it that "I was told that..." and then proceeded to say "I was told that he was tackled from behind", and that "the ball wasn't even going to him."
So I was concerned and thought "dang, I hope BYU didn't cheap-shot him and put him out with a dirty hit". Then I've seen the replays we've all seen now from a couple of angles. Kuithe clearly injures himself with a plant/cut on his route. He hops up awkwardly on the next step right after planting and cutting. Robinson is covering him and trailing him and it is absolutely not a dirty play.
So I need to get this off my chest that I think it is a low-class, chump move for a coach to basically throw an opposing player under the bus based on what he "heard" from his people about an injury to one of his star players. I can absolutely guarantee you that Kalani in the same situation would have not even come close to impugning an opposing player, especially if had not even seen video of the play that caused the injury. I hate seeing players injured for either team. I hate even more to see a coach try to frame a player on BYU's team as a dirty player when it is 100% unwarranted.
Thanks Kalani, for exemplifying and representing class and humility in all that you do as head coach.
