If BYU wants to win a playoff game, they have to figure this out.
Utah just gave everyone the blueprint on how to rattle Retzlaff and our offense. Utah went all out Blitz/Cover 0 many times and BYU didn't seem to have enough plays to beat the pressure.
It looked to me like BYU didn't run pressure beater plays consistently enough to make Utah pay for bringing all out pressure. Had we beat them bad several times for bringing so much pressure, they would have been forced to abandon it.
While Kansas, ASU, and Houston may or may not have a good enough defense to take advantage of this the way Utah did, it is likely that whoever BYU may face in a playoff game would.
It seems to me it would be a very good use of BYU's time to work on quick crosses/slants, bunch formations, RB slips, Y-Cross, quick outs or fades, shallow corner route to the slot receiver, hit the RB in the flat, etc.
I'd love to hear others thoughts, Go Cougs!
