"My comments came after having just left our team locker room where our student-athletes were hurting and upset."
This is so shallow to me. What really happened is He lost control and went on the field and cost his team a penalty (a meaningless one but still an embarrassing one). Then he marched on the field after the game and chased down the refs and screamed at them. It was bizarre and out of control. Then we don't know what happened between the time he left the field and then got in front of the media. He may have gone to the locker room and met with the players, but he was clearly out of control prior to that.
Then the really fun thing happens and he goes in front of the media and continues his out of control behavior for everyone to see.
So I don't really care that you met with the team that was hurting and upset. You were already out of control. So don't blame the players being hurt and upset on your behavior when clearly it was a problem before you met with them.
